Tegan and Sara Release New Animated Video for Hayley Williams Cover of “Nineteen”

Last month Tegan and Sara released their The Con X: Covers album, half celebration of the album’s 10th anniversary, half benefit for the The Tegan and Sara Foundation. The album saw a number of featured artists, and Tegan and Sara explained in a statement that the artists chosen for covers “were either outspoken allies of the LGTBQ community or LGBTQ themselves.”

One of the chosen artists was Hayley Williams from Paramore, who reinvented the song “Nineteen.” William’s version centered on transforming the pop themed portion with a floating, haunted piano ballad. The video was also uncovered from 2007: Kristine Thune created four videos inspired by The Con, like the original version of the song. The music video captures the feeling of teenage heartbreak. Tegan and Sara are currently on a sold out tour in promotion of their album. Half of the proceeds go towards their foundation “which fights for economic justice, health and representation for LGBTQ girls and women.”
