Back by popular demand. After immediately selling-out their first stop at Wrigley Field, the gracious Foo Fighters have added a second Chicago show as a part of their “Concrete and Gold Tour”. Following their first show on July 29th, there will now be a second show July 30th.
After already rocking cities around the country to support their ninth studio album Concrete and Gold, the Seattle rock band formed by past Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, has added an extension of dates to their already lengthy world tour. Along with Grohl (lead vocals/guitar), Nate Medel (bass), Pat Smear (rhythm guitar), Taylor Hawkins (drums), Chris Shiflett, and Rami Jaffee (keys) complete the current Foo Fighter’s roster. Ever since their debut in 1995 with their self-titled album, Foo Fighters, many have thought that the rock band and their sound would never stick. However, years later, the band is still here and have been on quite the hot streak.
After releasing eight studio albums, Foo Fighters shared their most mature and fierce album to date. Their ninth studio album Concrete and Gold, released earlier this year, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. It also topped the charts in 13 different countries. Their previous album, Sonic Highways, was released 2014 and included their single “Something from Nothing”. The song went on to earn them a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance in 2016. The band won their first Grammy award in 2000, for their video of the hit song “Learn to Fly”. It is safe to say with accolades such as these, it is no surprise the band is now on a world tour, selling-out shows around the country.
Having been described as alternative rock or post-grunge, Foo Fighters have an interesting garage-band style. However, Grohl has expressed the broad influences that himself and his bandmates share. He clarifies that their creative process comes naturally, and does not certainly have to sound a specific way. In the past he has expressed the readiness the band has to collaborate with anyone musically, and that the creative environment of the group is very open-minded. This is most likely the reason for Foo Fighters’ both heavy and melodic sound, as well as the reason why they are able to stay relevant, and pump-out endless rock hits.
After the unforgettable gig at the Metro in Chicago last summer, it is clear Dave Grohl and his crew love entertaining their Chicago fans. So much so, they had to ensure that there was a second show for all the devoted fans in the Chicagoland area. Tickets for the second show will be on sale to the public this Saturday, November 18th, at 10 a.m. Central Time.
