Everyone remembers the band that quickly rose to fame in the early 2000s. The Killers, everyone’s favorite rock band, returns to touring after a five-year break. In early 2018, the band will be coming to the United Center in Chicago for a sure-to-be sold-out show in January.
The Killers, are a Las Vegas-based band that were formed in 2001 by members Brandon Flowers (lead vocals, keyboards) and Dave Keuning (guitar, backing vocals). After Flowers was fired by his former band, he met Keuning. Soon after, the two began collaborating and creating music together. Before long, the duo had already created the radio-hit that would start it all, “Mr. Brightside”. Mark Stoermer (bass) and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. (drums) would later join-in to complete the ensemble. After recording for a few years, the band made their big debut in 2004 with Hot Fuss. An album that would soon lead the band to Grammy nominations, and platinum plaques. The Killers are now considered one of the greatest rock bands of the 21st century, as well as one of the most talented bands from Nevada. The Sin-City troop has sold an estimated 22 million records worldwide, and has solidified themselves in music history.
Now, a decade later, The Killers have released six studio albums and a greatest hits album. With songs like “Mr. Brightside”, “When You Were Young”, and “Somebody Told Me”, The Killers shined brightly above the rest in their era, solidifying their unique sound. The band’s music has often been labeled as many different genres, most commonly as alternative rock, indie rock, and post-punk revival.
Being one of the more famous genre-benders, with their pleasurable mix of ‘80s-styled pop and rock, The Killers are a must-see act. Their infectious throwback tracks, are both dancefloor and stadium-ready, and you will not want to miss their performance at the United Center next year with special guest Alex Cameron.
