Climate change has been a bit of a hot button issue lately, especially given the current administration’s stance on it. Given Trump’s decision to pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement, a global initiative to reduce carbon emissions, the music world decided to react.
Last night, a revolving door of artists gathered in a performance to raise awareness on climate change and remind the world that climate change is a growing threat. In attendance were several artists including Talib Kweli, Cat Power, Patti Smith, and Michael Stipe.
Stipe was one of the stars of the show, performing a set of four covers: Nat King Cole’s “Nature Boy,” Ringo Starr’s “It Don’t Come Easy” and “Photograph,” and The Velvet Underground’s “Sunday Morning.”
Joining Stipe was Now It’s Overhead frontman Andy LeMaster on bass, and the founder of Pathways to Paris (and daughter of Patti) Jesse Paris Smith on keyboards.
