Weird Al Announces New Box Set Of Rarities For November 2017 Release

Rolling Stone has reported that “Weird Al” Yankovic will be releasing a massive box set spanning his entire musical career on November 24th. The set, titled Squeeze Box, will span all 14 studio albums, from 1983’s self-titled release to 2014’s Mandatory Fun. Additionally, Squeeze Box will feature a record of rarities from Yankovic’s entire career. The whole box set will be housed in a package that is a replica of an accordion, the instrument most closely associated with Yankovic throughout his storied career. Squeeze Box will feature all 14 albums newly remastered on CD and 150-gram heavyweight vinyl, with six of Yankovic’s records being released in LP format for the first time. The set will also feature a 100-page book containing rare and never before published photographs and memorabilia.

Aside from performing a polka song begging North Korea to not nuke us earlier this year on John Oliver, Yankovic has not released any new material since 2014’s excellent Mandatory Fun album. That album was the artists first ever number 1 album on the Billboard charts and featured some of the best parody work of his entire career, thanks in part to series of hilarious music videos that were released in the weeks preceding the record’s release.

Yankovic has announced plans for a tour in 2018, however instead of performing his legendary parody songs, the trek will feature only his original material, so fans can expect plenty of polka influenced madness throughout the tour. The tour, entitled The Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour, will begin in late February.

Since his first single release in 1979, a parody of The Knack song My Sharona, entitled My Bologna, “Weird Al” Yankovic has been the most successful music parodist in the world, continuing to put out brilliant musical parodies that are cleverly written and have had a lasting appeal on a generation of music fans.
