According to Fact, Crystal Castles co-founder Ethan Kath is suing former member Alice Glass over rape allegations. Kath has filed a lawsuit for defamation and five other claims after Glass released a statement detailing years of alleged sexual and psychological abuse from Kath. In a statement published on October 24th, Glass described claims of rape, stalking and physical abuse, among other things, that resulted in her leaving the band. Kath responded with a statement himself discrediting all of Glass’s claims against him, saying that it is an attempt to damage his reputation and the band’s music career after finding success without her. He claims he suffered “emotional distress” due to Glass’s allegations. He calls her accusations a “dastardly plan” intended to “ruin his good name and reputation in the industry, destroy Crystal Castles… and in turn boost her own career.”
The band were let go from their management company and their booking agency following the allegations. Several live shows were also cancelled. Kath says “I will continue to support her quest to wellness but I can’t support extortion, false claims, and accusations put forth after the band attained new success without her.”
