Tera Melos Release Gaming Themed Video for Frenetic Song “Warpless Run” Featuring Rob Crow

This past August, Tera Melos released their latest album, Trash Generator. It was their 7th album since the band formed in 2004. The local Sacramento based band has since gained popularity among the “Math Rock” scene. They are seen as one of the most innovative and experimental groups within the genre. They are known for mixing ambient and electronic sounds with a progressive rock/DIY punk sensibility. The band refuses to conform and has popularized the use of experimental time signatures, contrasting dynamics, sparse vocals, syncopation, unique song structure, start-stop dynamics, improvisation, two-handed guitar tapping, extended bridges, effect pedals and samplers.

Another great math rock innovator, Rob Crow (Heavy Vegetable, Thingy, Pinback etc.) collaborated with the group on their new video for, “Warpless Run.” The San Diego native bring some so-cal flavor to the nor-cal band’s song.

The video takes on a gaming theme by portraying a gamer playing “Mr. Slug 2: Slimed! Warpless Run.” While the song plays, viewers can see the gamer playing in the top left corner, users commenting in the bottom left corner and the actual footage of the game on the right half of the screen. The video is just as experimental as the song and band itself. Fans can check out Nick Reinhart (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Nathan Latona (bass) and John Clardy (drums) live, this Friday at The Filmore at 8 pm.
