Dan Auerbach’s winter project has a name, “Easy Eye Sound Revue Tour.” In a trip featuring Robert Finley and Shannon Shaw, Auerbach will travel throughout North America starting February 2010, next year. Auerbach’s itinerary spans from Vancouver to Nashville; the weather gets better as the tour gets longer. Along the way, he’ll stop in Brooklyn, Portland, Austin, Seattle, Los Angeles and other lovely American cities.
Easy Eye Sound, Auerbach’s label, recently signed Shannon & The Clams, who will open every show on the tour as promotion for their new album. Each of the twenty performances will feature Robert Finley, Shannon Shaw, Dan Auerbach and The Easy Eye Sound house band. In the band: Gene “Bubba” Chrisman, Bobby Wood, Russ Pahl, and Dave Roe.
Tickets for this tour will go on sale on November third at ten o’clock in the morning.
Auerbach’s tour promotes his newest album, Waiting On A Song, that NPR reports as “a batch of sparkling pop songs that’s sweet, breezy, and primed for summer.” Though slightly opposed to The Black Keys’ gritty timbre, the songs on Waiting On A Song certainly show the depth of Auerbach’s range and musical interests. He captures new material and sound while projecting the same ease his fans are used to. His last solo album was also his first; Keep It Hid.
Auerbach’s latest album features some of blues and folks’ pioneers. John Prine, Duanne Eddy, Jerry Douglas, Russ Pahl and Pat McLaughlin were all recruited to help write Auerbach’s first solo album since 2009. Of working with these musicians and experiencing Nashville, Auerbach said this:
“Living in Nashville has definitely changed the way I think about music and the way that I record it. I didn’t have all of these resources before. I am working with some of the greatest musicians that ever lived.”
