G Herbo @ Portage Theatre (11/24)

Chicago native G Herbo, brings his intense and authentic music back to his city for a show at the Portage Theatre next month. Fresh off an album release, he returns with plenty of new music to share with his home-town fans.

G Herbo, formerly known as Lil Herb, is one of Chicago’s newest and most notable Hip-Hop artists. However, it was not always this way for the young rapper. The success his music has received was not easy, and neither was his upbringing. Herbert Wright III was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago in a neighborhood nicknamed “Terror Town”, and began making music in 2010. Through hard work and dedication, he has already collaborated with substantial names such as Common, Young Chop, Earl Sweatshirt, and Lil Yachty. Before he ever signed to a label, he released two viral mixtapes Welcome to Fazoland and Pistol P Project. After gaining traction with these projects he signed with Cinematic Music Group, and released his debut album Humble Beast earlier this year.

G Herbo has not had an easy past, and is not afraid to address it in his music. Using the popular drill-style sound that Chicago has notoriously made famous, Wright speaks on what he has seen growing up on the South Side of Chicago without restraint. This influences his music, giving it a very raw and honest sound that can easily be heard in his earlier music such as “At the Light” and “Four Minutes of Hell Pt. 4”. However, on his most recent project Humble Beast, we see a delivery change. On cuts such as “Everything” with Lil Uzi Vert, “I Like” and “Malcolm” there is still a presence of the Wright’s lyrics and writing that have become so popular, but the new delivery gives the music a fresher sound.

Look for him to perform all these hits and more, as he continues to gain fame and recognition. With YBN Nahmir assisting him in tearing down the stage at the Portage Theatre, Herbo’s homecoming will be one of the top shows to see in the Windy City next month.
