Regrettes’ Growlers Six Set Cut Short After Singer Lydia Night Was Attacked on Stage

Previously known as Beach Goth, Growlers Six Festival was held at the Los Angeles Waterfront this past weekend. Day 1 featured awe-inspiring performances from bands like Modest Mouse, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the band behind the curated festival, The Growlers.

Day one might have been a swimming success, but Day 2 proved to be a bit less smooth according to Stereogum. During The Regrette’s performance, a “fan” fought her way to the stage in order to attack the band. She charged towards Lydia Night, the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the band, and aggressively pushed her down. Who knows what else she would have done if security had not intervened. @theportablechristina took to instagram to share the shocking footage:

The fan might have been dressed like a superhero, but she certainly acted more like a villain. The attack was inexplicable and unwarranted. Live Nation, who was in charge of security, prevented any further damage, but seemed to be slow to prevent the attack in the first place. Other band members, Genessa Gariano (lead guitar, backing vocals), Sage Chavis (bass, backing vocals) and Maxx Morando (drums) also watched in horror as it happened. The experience was probably pretty shocking to the young punk-rock/garage pop group. As a result of the attack, the band’s set was cut short. While the rest of the bands continued to perform, a different energy certainly pervaded the festival afterwards.
