Paloma Faith Releases New Song “Guilty” Told From The Viewpoint of a Regretful Brexit Voter

English singer and songwriter Paloma Faith has released new song “Guilty,” her second single after “Crybaby” earlier this year. After taking a three year break from recording to give birth and raise her daughter, she has announced her fourth studio album The Architect. Faith is known for her deep, soulful vocals and lively and impactful songs and that is faultlessly what she delivers on this latest single.

Faith wrote “Guilty” during the same week of the infamous Brexit vote, from the perspective of being a Brexit voter herself. “I wrote this the week Brexit happened, from the perspective of someone who voted Leave and regretted it,” Paloma says. “I felt they were betrayed by the campaign and the lack of information. I wanted to show empathy for what that might feel like.” That gives lyrics like “I’ve been a criminal, I made a mistake, Believed in the fictional, then let everything slip away” a completely new implication.

“I was adamant with this record that I wouldn’t write about love – I wanted to look outside of myself and write about wider issues facing our world,” Paloma says. “But ironically, when you listen to it, it’s really a whole album about love.”

Faith’s fourth studio album The Architect is out on November 17th.

I composed music for a few months in college while living in New York which further sparked my passion for a career in the music industry. Live music is one of my all time favorite things to experience; First Avenue is my favorite venue, might be bias since I was born and raised in Minnesota. Happy ears, happy years.
