Majid Jordan @ Vic Theatre (2/21)

While only being active for a few years, these two musicians have already helped Drake earn a Top 5 hit on the Billboard, as well as sign to his major record label OVO Sound. They are now ready to embark on their Space Between Tour, and have included a Chicago stop early next year.

Majid Jordan is a rising Toronto-based duo, comprised of Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ullman. After meeting each other at the University of Toronto, the two discovered they have an interest in the same type of sound, and began making music. Initially going under the stage name Good People, they released their first ever body of work together, After Hours. Eventually after gaining some recognition and having music with enough quality that even Drake noticed, they worked with him on his hit song “Hold On, We’re Going Home” and eventually signed to his label. Through OVO Sound they have released A Place Like This in 2014, their self-titled album in 2016, and their most recent album The Space Between that dropped this Friday.

The sound of Majid Jordan is very unique to them. Producer Jordan Ullman has stumbled across certain synth sounds that when you now first hear, you immediately know Majid Jordan was involved. R&B heavily influences their music, and at times they almost reach a level of indie-pop. Behind wave-making records such as “One I Want”, “My Love”, and “Her” are the stunning vocals of Majid on top of just as amazing production by Jordan. These songs along with many others are a must-see if you’re in to alternative R&B vibes.

Each project they release and feature they acquire only continues to increase the duo’s popularity, sending them straight towards a path to the top. Do not miss this duo fresh off their newest album release next February at the Vic Theatre.
