Perhaps one of the hottest, most talked-about, and controversial artists in the Hip-Hop arena, comes to Chicago this Friday to tear down the Aragon. This stop is part of Spotify’s RapCaviar Live Tour, and is surely going to be one of the hottest shows this Fall.
Northern Philadelphia’s Symere Woods, more notoriously known as Lil Uzi Vert, is the product of the new generation of Hip-Hop artists that were raised off greats such as Kanye West, Pharrell, and Wiz Khalifa. Born in 1994, he is easily one of the youngest and most infamous artists in music today. While his climb to fame has not come easily, it has come quickly for the young rapper.
Ever since he was discovered by Don Cannon, who heard an Uzi feature on the radio, he has been heating up on the charts. Now having scored a record deal with Don Cannon and DJ Drama’s label Generation Now and Atlantic Records, Uzi has several successful releases under his belt. Starting with Luv is Rage in 2015, and Lil Uzi Vert vs. The World in 2016, Uzi was successfully able to land collaborations with his idols, Wiz Khalifa, Young Thug, and Metro Boomin. He was even featured in XXL’s top ten freshman of 2016. Most notably, the overwhelming success of his now four-times platinum hit, “XO TOUR Llif3” has skyrocketed Uzi from a top ten freshmen from Philadelphia, to a Rockstar.
Uzi’s raw sound and distinctive rapping style attribute to his quick rise to fame, and his success. There are few personalities in the music industry today that are similar to his. This nonconforming personality affects his creative process and how he creates music. Believing that he is indeed a Rockstar, he doesn’t follow the conventional musical barriers that today’s typical rapper would. He prefers to mesh different genres and sounds together to create a lane of his own. With viral songs such as “The Way Life Goes”, “Money Longer”, “You Was Right”, and “Do What I Want”, you can hear Uzi experimenting with his sound. A sound that can be best described as high energy vibrations that relate to Young Thug, Chief Keef, and even A$AP Mob at times.
You will not want to be left out of all the excitement and rage tonight when Philadelphia’s most viral rapper headlines this very special event, with help from Playboi Carti, DJ Drama, and very special guests!
