Mastodon, Tool, and OFF! Supergroup Legend Of The Seagullmen Tease New Lp and Announce Live Show Opening For Primus

Mastodon and Tool are two acts that tend to always be associated with each other, garnering comparisons and doing several tours and festivals together, and the two bands have formed a close relationship, so it only makes sense that the two came together at some point. Cue The Legend of the Seagullmen, a nautical-themed supergroup consisting of Mastodon’s Brent Hinds, Tool’s Danny Carey, OFF!’s Dimitri Coats and director Jimmy Hayward.

The group released two songs back in 2015, “The Deep Sea Diver” and “Ships Wreck,” but were mostly quiet the past two years. Jimmy Hayward recently posted on social media the band’s debut album was pressed, though no official announcement has been made and no other details have emerged, though it is reported that Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen is involved somehow.

But for fans who can’t wait until a project is released, the band will make their live debut when they open for Primus on New Year’s Eve at the Fox Theater in Oakland. You can snag tickets when the go on sale tomorrow (Friday, 10/20). Mastodon has been busy in their own right, releasing new song from their upcoming EP Toe to Toes. Tool are still working on their album after eleven years, though frontman Maynard James Keenan recently shed some light on the band’s creative process.
