Morrissey Releases Tongue and Cheek New Video for “Spent The Day In Bed” Featuring David Hoyle

The first single from Morrissey’s upcoming new album Low In High School is the track titled “Spent The Day In Bed.” It is the fifth track off the album and today, the English singer and songwriter has revealed the music video for the brand new song.

“Spent The Day In Bed” starts off with a wheelchair-bound Morrissey as he is pushed around by English soccer player Joey Barton through an old school social club. Barton pushes him into a grand room where Morrissey’s band is waiting. Morrissey remains seated the entire video as he sings about loving his bed and recommending people to stop watching the news. He sings,  “Stop watching the news because the news contrives to frighten you,” with this piece of advice, he is suggesting swapping the daily grind commute for a day lying in bed instead. With 2017 being a year of fake news and daily political agendas being forced down people’s throats, Morrissey and his advice may be what we need.

Filmed at the 142 year old Peckham Liberal Club, “Spent The Day In Bed” was directed by prominent music video director Sophie Muller who has previously worked alongside Beyonce, Kings Of Leon, Blur, The Killers and Annie Lennox. This will be her first time working with Morrissey and hopefully not the last.
