Breakout songs, a top five debut album, and credits on hit songs. These are only a few features that the talented solo act of Jon Bellion can now add to his resume. Tonight, the New York musician stops by the Aragon Ballroom with his friends Blaque Keyz and Travis Mendes as openers.
Jon Bellion is not your average musician. He is a singer, songwriter, rapper, and producer born and raised in Long Island, New York. At a first glance it may appear that there is nothing musically that he cannot do, however, it was not always that way. Bellion’s first love growing up was basketball. Eventually, towards the end of his high school education, he became torn between his love for basketball and his love for music. But thankfully, Bellion made the difficult decision to pursue his music career and enrolled in the music program at Five Towns College in New York.
When it comes to labelling Bellion’s music, there is not one single genre that it can be placed. Bellion’s sound is original, creative, and unrestricted. His tracks almost seamlessly weave in and out of different genres. What he most closely relates to is a mixture of Pop, Hip Hop, Rock, and EDM that can be credited to his musical inspirations. These motivators that he has vocally made known before include legends such as Timbaland, Pharrell Williams, and Eminem.
Astonishingly, it did not take long for Bellion to make his dreams a reality. According to an interview he gave with MTV in 2013, he was the genius behind the popular collaboration between Eminem and Rihanna titled “The Monster” that appeared on Eminem’s Marshall Mathers LP 2. Bellion’s producing and writing abilities are advanced enough that he has multiple writing credits on several significant songs, and are the main reason his debut album, The Human Condition, peaked as high as #5 on the Billboard Hot 200.
Tonight, at the infamous Aragon Ballroom, Jon Bellion will be bringing all his talent and flair that helped him create hits such as the artistic tune “Guillotine” that features his opener Travis Mendes. As well as his renowned hit with Zedd “Beautiful Now”, and of course his biggest song to date “All Time Low”. Look for him to perform all these tracks and much more tonight in Chicago.
