Whitechapel Decade Of Defilement Tour At The Regent Theater 12/05

This winter calls for concerts. Tennessee deathcore band Whitechapel is set to head a North American tour titled the “Decade Of Defilement” in honor of the tenth anniversary of their debut album The Somatic Defilement. There will be a setlist with select tracks from the 2007 album – with tracks that have not been played since the album’s inception. This is all probably in support of the album recently making its way onto vinyl after 10 years.

With support from bands Carnifex, Rings Of Saturn, Entheos and So This Is Suffering, the tour spans over 30 dates through November and December. Beginning in Atlanta, Georgia at the Masquerade and ending in their hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee at the Intersection, the event is under $20 if you buy a ticket in advance. The day of the show it’ll be $25.

Whitechapel drew influences for their name from the Whitechapel district in East London, England, where Jack The Ripper is supposed to have famously murdered its residents. Formed in 2006 by frontman Phil Bozeman and guitarist Ben Savage, the band has released six studio albums to date and are currently signed to Metal Blade Records. Their first album released through Candlelight Records came out year after their formation, receiving favorable reviews from critics and fans.

Their second album, This Is Exile, was released in 2008 through Metal Blade. The album broke onto mainstream Billboard charts, reaching number 118 on the top 200. They also climbed up the Hard Rock Albums to number 13, reached number 2 on the Heatseekers Albums and number 14 on the Independent Albums chart. Then the band embarked on their first ever headlining tour shortly after. Their third album, A New Era Of Corruption, was released in 2010 and also broke onto the Billboard charts.

The band’s self-titled fourth album was released in 2012 to mostly favorable reviews from critics. AllMusic described the band as more death than core, saying “Whitechapel is band that is definitely worth checking out” with an “expansive” and “devastating” sound. Their fifth album, Our Endless War, was released in 2014 to mixed reviews. Their latest album, Mark of the Blade, was released two years later. The album peaked at number 72 on the Billboard 200 and received mostly positive reviews from critics.
