Always Strive And Prosper. That is the moniker that A$AP Rocky and his cohorts go, and live by. Tonight, Rocky and his band of brethren A$AP Mob, will take the stage at the UIC Pavilion. They have officially set off on their “Too Cozy Tour” and are bringing along known A$AP Mob affiliates Key! and Cozy Boys for their Chicago stop.
The collective known as ASAP Mob (stylized as A$AP) is made up of several rappers, musicians, producers, and designers that all share the same style and mentality. Some of the more notable members of the group include the front-runner A$AP Rocky, distinguished rapper A$AP Ferg, producer A$AP Ty Beats, other recording artists A$AP Ant and A$AP Twelvyy, as well as the late A$AP Yams who was one of the original founders of the group who died of an accidental drug overdose in 2015.
The troop was birthed in Harlem in 2006 and has been creating trends ever since. Originally just a group of mutual friends, they soon began creating music together. Then, with the help of the imaginative vision of A$AP Yams, the artists were bound together as a single group with the same goals and became A$AP Mob.
Seeing The Mob on stage live is quite a spectacle. From their style, to their hits, to the star guests, there are few shows that compare. Hits from their newest group album “Cozy Tapes Vol. 2: Too Cozy” are sure to ring out and bring down the Pavilion. Comprised of tracks such as “Feels So Good”, “Frat Rules” and of course their smash hit “RAF” with an all-star feature lineup.
While their latest album will definitely be a go-to look for them to also perform their hyped-up, performance-ready records from their 2016 album “Cozy Tapes Vol 1: Friends”, that was dedicated to the late A$AP Yams. Songs from this project that are necessary for any A$AP Mob performance include “Crazy Brazy” and “Yamborghini High”.
The energy that the collective brings to the stage is as unique as it is intense, and is one that has yet to be matched by similar groups. One will be able to see the entire group perform their hits, as well as see the leading members perform their individual records. With so much depth, it is hard to not see something different or special from the crew every time. Each member is an artist with their own specific role that they serve on the team. This is something special that A$AP Mob brings to their performances on every stage.
