Django Django Announces New Album Marble Skies for January 2018 Release

The British alt rock band with the catchy double name are back as they explore new sounds with their third full-length album, Marble Skies. Django Django, which consists of band members David Maclean, Vincent Neff, Jimmy Dixon and Tommy Grace are gearing up to release their new album early next year.

The new album follows the release of Django Django’s 2012 Mercury Prize-nominated debut and 2015’s Born Under Saturn. With the new record comes some new sounds as the band finds themselves exploring krautrock to electro, summer-pop, dancehall, jazz-fusion and beyond. The record is also said to be “a more concise and focused offering which recalls the dynamic, genre-blurring music of their debut”.

Like their first record which was recorded in Maclean’s bedroom, Marble Skies was completed in the similar environment, a small equipped and crammed studio in north London. The band started experimenting with new material back in 2016 when the members of Django Django minus Maclean came together at Urchin Studios in Tottenham, London alongside Metronomy’s drummer Anna Prior. Ten days later after recording, the band sent a good amount of raw material to Maclean to edit, refine and evolve before coming together fully for a proper recording.

Marble Skies album tracklist:

2. Surface To Air
3. Champagne
4. Tic Tac Toe
5. Further

7. Beam Me Up
8. In Your Beat

To get ready for the release of Marble Skies, the band today have launched their new single titled “Tic Tac Toe” as well as an accompanying music video. The video was directed by John Maclean, brother of Dave and the director of the critically acclaimed modern western film Slow West starring Michael Fassbender.

In the summer like video depicts Neff enjoying a relaxing day in a beach town. All seems normal as Neff is pushed out a small trailer in order to buy a pint of milk to make a cup of tea. He is then seen walking down a path beside the ocean waves as life moves with him. He moves from one beach spot to the next including a pool hall and a Fish and Chips stand but things turn sinister when he is put on a collision course with a grim reaper.

Drawing inspiration from Ingmar Bergman’s The Seventh Seal, director John Maclean explains; “The film could be about the fading era of the beach arcades, time moving too fast, love and games, horror and happiness but it is actually about a man who needs to go buy a pint of milk to make a cup of tea.”

Marble Skies is set to be released as digital, CD, standard LP and a deluxe colored starburst vinyl early next year on January 26th via Ribbon Music. Fans can pre-order their copy of the album here
