Freeing, artistic, immersive tunes. These all perfectly describe the mood and feel of the solo indie-pop project of Yoke Lore. Fronted by New York native Adrian Galvin, who was a former member and writer of Walk the Moon, this Brooklyn act has an interesting and pleasing combination of pop beats, folk-inspired feel, and Walk the Moon style writing that accommodates almost any crowd and has them singing along.
Galvin was basically born into the arts. Raised in Katonah, New York by an actor/sculptor and a director, he was in the perfect environment to explore and experiment with different types of visual and performance arts. Growing up he dabbled in painting, photography, and even ballet. Eventually he found a passion for music in the drums, and began his journey as a musician. Yoke Lore is about as well rounded as a creative as they come.
Comprised of the signature style of banjos and guitars that transition into huge thudding drums, airy melodies, and soupey reverbed vocals, Yoke Lore’s first EP, Far Shore, was released last spring. This EP was a huge mile stone, as it contained one of Galvin’s most well-known and highest streamed songs “Hold Me Down”. Most of the songs on the EP were also quickly scooped up by MTV and Netflix to be licensed for their network series. Look for him to perform cuts from Far Shore, as well as his newest project, Goodpain EP which includes his most recent hit “Goodpain”.
If you’re looking for an artistic show with a folksy-electronic twist that will capture your attention, Yoke Lore at Lincoln Hall tonight is the place to be. Accompanied by the English pop duo Aquilo, the show is bound to be one to remember. Filled with banjo riffs, electronic-pop sounds, and of course plenty of dreamy choruses to sing your heart out to.
