Greensky Bluegreen is an American rock/bluegrass band hailing from Michigan. The band was founded in 2000 and has continued to grow beyond their original goal. Although their name has the music genre called “bluegrass”, many have considered Greensky Bluegrass as just a folk-rock band. What started out as a three-piece band grew into a full five-piece band over the years. Greensky Bluegrass’ lineup currently includes Dave Bruzza, Paul Hoffman, Micheal Bont, Anders Beck, and Mike Devol. Due to their continuous use of covers, Greensky Bluegrass’ fanbase has been one of the most diverse in the music world.
Greensky Bluegrass released their debut album, Less Than Supper, in 2004 under the record label Big Blue Zoo. After appearing at the 2007 Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Greensky Bluegreen released their follow up album, Tuesday Letter. Their second album was produced by the famous Tim Carbone of Railroad Earth. In the fall of 2007, Greensky Bluegrass released a live album titled Live At Bell’s. The following year, the band released their third album, Five Interstates. Greensky Bluegrass released their fourth album, Handguns, in 2011. The album spent a few weeks on the Billboard Bluegrass chart.
Greensky Bluegrass became a regular performer on Telluride Bluegrass Music Festival in 2013. The following year, Greensky Bluegrass revealed and released their new album, If Sorrow Swims. Greensky Bluegrass went on tour in support of their latest album. The album hit no. 1 on Billboard Bluegrass Albums chart.
