Noel Gallagher Claims Liam Needs To See A Psychiatrist

The Gallagher brothers caught media attention recently after Liam fired off series of demeaning tweets about his brother’s performance of “Don’t Look Back In Anger” at the Manchester Arena. The two are as famous for their onstage antics as they are for their group, Oasis, which topped charts on numerous occasions throughout its career. Noel actually joined the band in 1995, four years after Liam put it together.

The pair have been known to get into fights that only siblings can find themselves in. They’ve hit each other over the head with tambourines, tussled on stage, and made disparaging comments about one another—in person, in interviews, and most recently over Twitter.

Of Noel’s performance at Manchester Arena Liam said this: “Don’t buy into his PR stunt he doesn’t give a fuck.”

Liam called his brother’s performance a “PR stunt” to follow up former criticism of Noel’s failure to appear at the “One Love Manchester” benefit concert in June. Noel maintains that, if he had been asked to play he would have. Noel responded to questions about his brother’s meltdown with a simple explanation.

“He needs to see a psychiatrist,” he said. “I don’t say that as a joke. Because young Mancunians, young music fans, were slaughtered, and he, twice, takes it somewhere to be about him. He needs to see somebody.”

Whether Noel was hyperbolizing or not, his point was that Liam used a horrific tragedy to take a jab at his brother. Liam fired off another round of tweets in retaliation, offering to prove that Noel had actually declined to play at the benefit.

Noel had also been in the news recently for quietly donating the royalties gained from Colplay’s performance of “Don’t Look Back In Anger” to the “One Love” benefit. The money went to the families of victims from the attack; Noel said after questioning that the donations were in direct response to his brothers criticism.

Radio X host Gordon Smart came to Noel’s defense, as did Coldplay. Liam tweeted, “Noels out of the fucking country weren’t we all love get on a fucking plane and play your tunes for the kids you sad fuck.”

Chris Martin subtweeted Liam to acknowledge that “everyone knew in advance [Noel] couldn’t be there physically, so thank you for being there in spirit.”
