Killer Mike Criticizes Mike Pence Walking out of NFL Game, Says He “Hopes We Send His Religious Nut Ass” Back Home in Next Election

This weekend the Indianapolis Colts played the San Francisco 49ers. Two interesting elements concerning the game converged into what became a vice presidential rebuke of the NFL in response to its players’ expression of protest. Mike Pence, former Indiana governor, flew to see a game that was almost certainly going to involve protest from the 49ers side. The Vice President drew criticism for the possibility of the entire venture being a PR stunt, to publicly rebuke the NFL for allowing its players to kneel during the nation anthem.

The kneeling began in the NFL when 49er Colin Kaepernick knelt during the national anthem in 2016 to protest to oppression of people of color in the United States, prompting a trend of protest in the NFL and other major sports leagues. Kaepernick was dropped from the team and remains a free agent, but the movement he helped to start among football players is stronger than ever.

Killer Mike took to Instagram today to bash Vice President Pence for walking out of the game. He argued that kneeling is a form of expression that is protected by the Constitution’s First Amendment, and explained why players choose to employ it.

Conrad Brittenham: My name is Conrad. I am one year out of college and pursuing a career in writing and journalism. I studied literature at Bard College, in the Hudson Valley. My thesis focuses on the literal and figurative uses of disease in Herman Melville’s most famous works, including Moby-Dick, Benito Cereno, and Billy Budd. My literary research on the topic of disease carried over to more historical findings about how humans tend to deal with and think about the problem of virus and infectivity. I’ve worked at a newspaper and an ad agency, as well as for the past year at an after school program, called The Brooklyn Robot Foundry. All of these positions have influenced the way I approach my work, my writing, and the way I interact with others in a professional setting. I’ve lived in London and New York, and have always had a unique perspective on international cultural matters. I am an avid drawer and a guitarist, but I would like to eventually work for a major news publication as an investigative journalist.
