Odessa At The Bootleg Theater 10/27

Pop-singer Odessa tends to fly under the radar as of late but still, she’s a musician that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Ever since her freak bicycle accident the artist has gone full throttle with her music and modeling career. Performing on the coveted Bar Stage at the Bootleg Theater, the musician also known as Odessa Rose Jorgensen, according to Paste magazine, is set to rock out for an audience Oct. 27. It’s a perfect Friday night outing with your friends or with a date, complete with the sweet, sultry vocals lended by Odessa herself.

Signed to Republic Records, Odessa Rose calls her genre on Facebook “Forest Core.” With an eclectic and large list of songs available on iTunes, she’s clearly been pretty busy. She’s no stranger to the music or high fashion industry.

She told Harper’s Bazaar that by the age of 15, she had played classical violin at Carnegie Hall and booked her first modeling gig–with Versace, of all places. Versace is world-renowned. Next, she toured backup with a range of entertainment groups, including bluegrass and rock, such as Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. That little bump was what truly propelled her forward as a musician.

Odessa is the poster child of a completely musically inclined family, with a father who kept himself busy with various surf rock bands and kept their childhood home stocked with California rock records, according to Paste magazine.

Beginning violin lesson at 4 years old, Odessa was ahead of the curve. Her whole life has been music. During a time when most kids are barely starting their school careers, she was working hard and unknowingly training for her future. She told Paste she supposed it was likely her parents’ suggestion, because as far as Odessa is concerned, making music was simply something she was doing from as far back as she can remember. To her, music is probably second nature.

While recording her debut album Odessa, the singer was involved in a freak bicycle accident that almost killed her.

“I fractured my skull, spine and knocked few teeth out,” recalled the singer, according to Paste. “I was literally unable to sing, but I could still play violin. So between that and the painkillers, I didn’t want to finish my own record in that state. So I went on the road with Sharpe.”
