Singer Songwriter/Folk musician, Sharon Van Etten has announced a reissue of her debut album because i was in love. The reissue will be cleverly renamed (it was) because i was in love. The reissue will feature the remastered (Joe Lambert) and remixed (Craig Silvey) versions of the 11 original songs as well as two new songs titled, “I’m Giving Up On You,” and “You Didn’t Really Do That.” The reissue will be released November 17th. Van Etten reasoned, “It was an innocent and beautiful record, which some of my newer fans may not even know about. This seemed like the perfect time to remix and remaster it, and give it a new life.”

Since the original release of the album, Van Etten has released three other studio albums filled with coffee house hits. Her songs are tender, vulnerable and full of cheeky imperfections. While other mainstream artists might avoid these imperfections for fear of sounding flawed, Van Etten’s choice to fearlessly include them helps to add a refreshing touch of humanity to her work. Recently, Van Etten has also combined her musical talents with the exciting world of televelsion. Van Etten has created the score for Strange Weather, contributed to The Man in The High Castle‘s soundtrack with a cover of Sketter Davis’ hit “The End of The World,” and performed “Tarifa,” on Twin Peaks: The Return and “I Wish I Knew,” on The OA (Van Etten actually plays the recurring character Rachel on the show).

The remastered version of “I Wish I Knew,” is inquisitive and peaceful. Although it is similar to the original, it is more confident and clear. The rest of the album will be released November 17th.
