Today, the artist known as St. Vincent unveiled the music video for her new single off the record titled “Los Ageless.” The name is perfect for the track which has a powerful message to tell. The music video is directed by Willo Perron, who also handled creative direction for artists like The xx, Rihanna and Kanye West. “Los Ageless” has Annie Clark shifting from all of L.A’s most stereotypical spots from a yoga studio to a nail salon and even a plastic surgeon’s chair. She becomes stiff like a doll as she sits and stands and strums a guitar all with a pastel colored background. Clark’s face is tugged, her body is wrapped in plastic surgery bandages and her feet dipped in green ooze. There is a powerful message that she is sending through her video which is the constant pressure to stay forever young. During the video, Clark puts the word no through a paper shredder over and over again letting viewers know that you don’t have to give in to the idiotic pressure to be beautiful through any cost.
St. Vincent co-produced her album, Masseduction with Jack Antonoff at the Electric Lady Studios in Manhattan with additional recording at both Rough Consumer Studio in Brooklyn and Compound Fracture in Los Angeles. The album, though not quite released has already been called “the best thing she’s ever done” according to Buzzfeed and “Clark’s most intriguingly complex album to date” according to Rolling Stone.
