Quicksand recently finished off a successful headlining tour across North America, wrapping things up in their hometown of NYC this past weekend. Not to rest on their laurels, the band decided to keep the momentum going with a new gift for fans.
Today, the band released a new song, “Cosmonauts,” of their upcoming album (their first in 22 years), Interiors. The new track also comes with a new video, and both the audio and visuals live up to the tracks name.
Starting off with some glistening and echoing guitars, lead singer Walter Schreifels comes in with some understated, soothing vocals as the band opens up both its drums and guitar to create a spacey, dreamy soundscape that quite frankly makes you want to look up at the stars and just gaze. The visuals also play into the astronaut theme, showing early footage of the space program and astronauts, as well as some early footage from outer space. The whole thing is a perfect mellow track to play while driving around at night or sitting out staring at the stars.
The new track is a very appetizing sneak peek into their upcoming efforts on Interiors. The new album was recorded at Studio 4 Recording in Pennsylvania. According to a press release from the band, the new LP will find “Quicksand embracing the cathartic, guitar-driven dynamic of their earlier work [although] Interiors also takes on a wider spectrum of sound.”
You can check out the new video below. Interiors is out November 10th. Quicksand also recently hit the news when their guitarist was arrested for shoplilfitng.
