After the release of Simple Forms, The Naked And Famous has released a song “A Still Heart”, which will be a part of the upcoming Stripped LP.
The song is a mix between “A Stillness” and “Hearts Like Ours” from the album In Rolling Waves. According to the press release, when talking about the inspiration for the project, the vocalist/guitarist Thom Powers states ” “I think Elvis Costello is originally credited with saying something to the effect of, ‘You have your whole life to create your first album and one year to finish your follow-up.’ I’d like to add to that: you also have your whole life to create your first record and, if it is successful, you’ll be asked to perform acoustic versions of your songs. Seven years later, we decided to approach this as a creative challenge – an exercise in limitation. The songs feel reborn. Ironically this is very true to where Alisa and I began as collaborators!”
With the use of acoustic, the song has a softer mood along with the added echo type effect added to the beat. The vocals has a similar type situation with its background voices. The song can be listened to below.
