Tragically Hip Member Gord Downie Announces New Solo Album Introduce Yerself for October 2017 Release

“This is my record, each song is about a person.” It was about a year and a half ago when Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie announced that he was suffering from terminal brain cancer. Instead of fading from the public eye, he and his band headed out on a final tour, and said goodbye to fans, friends, and family across the country. Their final show was in Toronto, and broadcast live by the Canadian Broadcasting Company. It was viewed by an estimated 11.7 million people.

Since then, he hasn’t been performing, but he’s still been pumping out art. Last year, he dropped Secret Path, which came with a short film and a graphic novel. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, now Downie has officially announced a new solo album for October 2017, titled Introduce Yerself.

The 23-song double tape was recorded with Broken Social Scene frontman Kevin Drew, who co-wrote many songs. It was recorded with great speed, over two four-day sessions. Introduce Yerself is out 10/27 on Arts & Crafts.
