Lollapalooza has just released all three lineups for their South American festivals in Argentina, Chile and Brasil. According to Billboard, each festival has been extended to a third day. Similarly, in 2016 the Chicago festival expanded to four days in honor of the 25th anniversary of the festival. Last year, Metallica, The xx and The Strokes headlined at the South American festival, and brought in record breaking audiences. With another killer line up of headliners including Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Killers, LCD Soundsytem, Imagine Dragons, Lana Del Rey and Chance the Rapper, this year is sure to break even more records.
Chance the Rapper, Pearl Jam, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers have been busy on the touring scene lately, and are sure to give top notch performances at the festival. The Killers, Imagine Dragons, LCD Soundsytem, and Lana Del Rey on the other hand, have all just released new albums, which are sure to provide new exciting material for their festival performances. The festival will also showcase other notables artists such as: Wiz Khalifa, The National, DJ Snake, Kygo and Khalid.
August 3rd-6th, at the Chicago Lollapalooza, was filled with many highs and lows. Some great performances were given, such as a staggering 32 song set by The Foo Fighters which featured fan favorites, songs off their new album Concrete and Gold and some iconic covers of bands like The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Jane’s Addiction, Queen and AC/DC. Other artists did not fare as well. Liam Gallagher of Oasis, played an anemic three song set due to a vocal strain. In addition, Muse was cut short at three songs, and Lorde, Lil Uzi Vert and Porter Robinson got no stage time at all due to weather.
Hopefully, the South American leg of the festival will run smoothly. Argentina and Chile will host the festival March 16th-18th at O’Higgins Park in Santiago and Hippodrome de San Isidro in Buenos Aires respectively. Brasil will host it March 23rd-25th at Autódromo de Interlagos in São Paulo. The only other international locations for the festival are Germany and France. Tickets can be purchased on their respective websites.
