There’s a rush that jolts through the body when a fan collides head first with their favorite band whether seeing a live concert or standing in line just to get a few moments of face time with an idol. For a few lucky fans who had the chance to be at the Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles this past weekend got a surprise jolt when they got to see the return of Julian Casablancas + the Voidz in a secret performance. Using the fake band name “Youtube Comments,” Casablancas + the Void went on stage and for a few hours rocked out for a memorable night of music and fun memories.
During the intimate show, the band performed a 13-song set which featured the debut of six new tracks that included, “Wink,” “We’re Where We Were,” “Aliennation,” “Coul As A Ghoul,” and “Lazy Boy.” The band also covered Casablancas collaboration with Daft Punk’s with the track, “Instant Crush,” which Casablancas originally co-wrote.
Fans in the crowd quickly got out their smartphones and begin to capture the night’s performance. Instagram blew up with these crowd videos which shows the band under bright red lights controlling the stage with their presences. Check out the crowd shot footage of the secret show below.
It has been two years since The Strokes frontman’s side project performed on stage back in 2015 with a gig in Santa Ana, California. The side project only has one album in their discography, the 2014’s Tyranny but their new record, still yet untitled will serve as a follow up and will hopefully be just the beginning.
October has Casablancas + The Void booked with weeks of not so secret live performances and more opportunity to showcase their new material for a broader audience.
