About a couple of months ago indie rock group Sweet Apple released their album Sing the Night in Sorrow and video to the album’s single “World I’m Gonna Leave You,” creating a post punk/garage rock sound that continues to capture the ear’s of their listeners. Recently Sweet Apple members John Petkovic, Tim Parnin, Dave Sweetapple and J Mascis have returned with another visual of their melodies by sharing the brand new video to their second single “Summer’s Gone.”
With the current change of the seasons, the timing for “Summer’s Gone” is perfect. Directed by Petkovic, the video shows clips of a man walking around an empty part of Cleveland, Ohio and and two skateboarders on a boardwalk in Oceanside, California heading toward the sun, displaying the two sides of how a majority of people feel when the come across the end of summer; peace and disappointment. While the scenes of the two skaters show the peace and tranquility of the ending of a beautiful summer, shots of the man walking around a lonely deserted city shows emotions of what happens when the beloved season comes to an end and you have to go back to your everyday life. In a press release Petkovic explained how those scenes and feelings are parallel stating “Many of the crumbling, abandoned buildings in Cleveland experienced their summer many years ago and now they sit frozen in some permanent state of fall. They are evocative and full of sadness: The roofs are missing; the windows are smashed; the doors are busted – and they seem so vulnerable as winter approaches.” Below you can checkout Sweet Apple’s brand new video “Summer’s Gone” off their album Sing the Night in Sorrow.
