Joe Satriani Announces New Album What Happens Next for January 2018 Release

According to Loudwire, Joe Satriani announced the release of his new album What Happens Next for January 12, 2018.  He is set to go on his G3 tour with Dream Theater’s John Petrucci and Def Leppard guitarist, Phil Collen.  “I could say that I’m surprised at the durability of G3 and how much it’s grown, but in a way I’m not. I think part of its charm and its mojo is in the chemistry of having three top guitarists share what they do on stage. It’s fun, it’s unpredictable, it’s wild, it’s everything you could want in a show,” Satriani says of the tour.  This album will be his 16th solo record, featuring a number of guitar talents, namely Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple and Black Sabbath on bass and Red Hot Chili Peppers Chad Smith on the drums, this being the first time Satriani and Smith have collaborated since Chickenfoot.

His last album, Shockwave Supernova was released in 2015, giving fans three years to mellow and prepare for the much anticipated, yet somewhat unexpected album What Happens Next. Satriani has validated his long lasting track record, and with this new manifesto, he is not slowing down anytime soon.

I composed music for a few months in college while living in New York which further sparked my passion for a career in the music industry. Live music is one of my all time favorite things to experience; First Avenue is my favorite venue, might be bias since I was born and raised in Minnesota. Happy ears, happy years.
