Foo Fighters and Pelle Almqvist of The Hives Cover AC/DC Classic “Let There Be Rock”

The Foo Fighters are continuing to express their appreciation for the legendary AC/DC. The bands lead singer Dave Grohl gave his eight-year-old a copy of Highway to Hell, and the band covered AC/DC’s hit song “Let There Be Rock” at the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.

Last Thursday in Sweden, to close the show at the Vasateatern in Stockholm to support their new album, Con Concrete and Gold, they covered the classic song again, this time bringing out The Hives’ singer Pelle Almgvist. Almqvist once desired to take over AC/DC’s Brian Johnson when he announced his retirement from touring; though the job went to Axl Rose.

The Foo Fighters just released their ninth studio album together titled, Concrete and Gold. The album features production from Greg Kurstin who’s worked with pop acts such as as Adele, Pink and Sia. This is the first time that Kurstin and Grohl have teamed up. Justin Timberlake is the huge pop star singing backup vocals on the song “Make It Right”, this comes after most fans thought it would be Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift on the album.

Dave Grohl, said this about the new album, “I wanted it to be the biggest sounding Foo Fighters record ever. To make a gigantic rock record but with Greg Kurstin sense of melody and arrangement.” The blueprint was conceived as “Motherhead’s version of Sgt. Pepper…or something like it.”
