Friends, family, and fans from across the world are still feeling the sting from Linkin Park’s beloved band member Chester Bennington’s recent suicide back in July, but the band is now ready to provide some well needed solace. On Oct. 27 Linkin Park will be holding a celebration of life concert at the Hollywood Bowl where many different artists will join the cause with them on stage in honor of Bennington and the beautifully touching music they created. All of the band’s proceeds from the concert will go directly to Music for Relief’s One More Light fund, an organization founded by Linkin Park. Pre-sale ickets for the event will be available for purchase on Tuesday Sept. 19, while the general public tickets will go on sale Friday Sept. 22.
In another heartfelt gesture from the band, Linkin Park just released a new music video for their most recent album’s title track “One More Light.” The piece was directed by the bands own Joe Hahn, and was shot by their longtime videographer Mark Fiore. The music video has only been up for a day, and has seen more than a million hits — making it the number one trending video on YouTube. See the video below and prepare for the waterworks.
“It has been incredibly emotional to work on this, and especially to watch it,” says Hahn. “I feel that by doing it, we not only faced some of our biggest fears, but it enabled us to use our talents to bring some light to people who need it. As we move forward to the Hollywood Bowl show and beyond, I think about the people who connect with the band, outside and inside our circle. This video is a gesture of good will to the people who want that connection.”
Fellow band member Mike Shinoda also added “One More Light was written with the intention of sending love to those who lost someone. We now find ourselves on the receiving end. In memorial events, art, videos, and images, fans all over the world have gravitated towards this song as their declaration of love and support for the band and the memory of our dear friend, Chester. We are so very grateful and can’t wait to see you again.”
