Lights is hyping up a new album called Skin&Earth with a mystifying interpretation of the new song “New Fears.” It’s a sultry intense look into an outer body experience. Some early praise of Skin&Earth said this was her most ambitious album.
Her first release from Skin&Earth called “Giants” is climbing the charts on Hot AC Radio. “New Fears” gives a peek into the diversity of this new album. It will be about hope and hoplessness with a lot of symbolism in between. Lights said the entire album connects with it’s comic book counterpart for a complete story,
“When you put them together and you start to connect the dots, there’s something so much deeper there.”
Perhaps Issue 3 of her newly-minted album comic-book companions will give you a better perspective. Concept albums have risen in popularity giving some curious fans a chance to break-down the meaning and symbolism of the lyrics. This new project is pushing the boundaries of time management. Writing and drawing up a book of comics, all while producing a new album, seems like a daunting task but it’s her passion. Lights was looking to express herself in a comic book that was an alter ego of her life. She is merging her music abilities and her love for comics giving fans more of an immersive insight into her art. Whether it’s her music, or her comics, she uses these platforms to express ideas. She wanted to broaden her range of topics, so she started her comic book project earlier this year. The main character is Lights in another dimension which gave her the opportunity to write about things that she never wrote about before. There are six issues of the comic book series that coincide with Skin&Earth
