Joyce Manor & Wavves @ Union Transfer 11/07

American rock bands Wavves and Joyce Manor are teaming up for a special show in Philadelphia. Both bands are based in California and have since made a name for themselves. Wavves are touring in support of their new album, You’re Welcome, which was released early May 2017. Joyce Manor released their latest album back in 2016, Cody. Joyce Manor’s Cody album peaked at no. 19 on Billboard Alternative Albums Chart. You’re Welcome peaked at no. 14 on Billboard Independent Albums chart. The two rock bands are on a limited city tour with stops including Baltimore, Toronto, Denver, and Salt Lake City.

Joyce Manor released their debut self-titled album in 2011. The album received huge praise, putting them on almost every list for best band. Joyce Manor released their second album, Of All The Things I Will Soon Grow Tired, in April 2012. Joyce Manor signed with Epitaph Records to release their third album, Never Hungover Again. Joyce Manor began touring and appearing at small music festivals around the country. Joyce Manor released their fourth and latest album, Cody, on October 7th.

Wavves began their career in 2008 with the release of their self-titled album. After the release, Wavves went on their first worldwide tour in Europe and the US. Wavves began work on their second album, Wavvves, after the tour. The album was released a few months later. Wavves’ third album, King of the Beach, was released August 3, 2010. The album received huge praise from music outlets like Pitchfork, Spin, and Metacritic. Wavves has been credited with the popular video game Grand Theft Auto 5 soundtrack. Wavves toured with The Naked and The Famous as opening acts for Blink-182’s Spring tour in 2017. Wavves released their latest album, You’re Welcome, earlier this year.

Donovan Wilkins: Donovan Wilkins is a self-taught photographer and published writer. He lives in Glenside after moving from his hometown of Philadelphia. After studying Liberal Arts at CCP, he decided to focus his time on his writing and photography. In 2016, Donovan completed his first feature-length screenplay, The Coast is Clear. During his career, Donovan worked on a small budget film in Philadelphia as part of a writing team. Since then, he has written various short screenplays.
