Each week, the underground villain known as MF Doom has been releasing new songs that are all part of a new project that is associated with the network station, Adult Swim. These tracks will make up the Missing Notebook Rhymes, a series of albums that include appearances from other artists. Fans have seen six weeks of songs, each one just as good as the last.
The underground villain has been rolling out unreleased tracks to gear up with a new album yet to come. This week, MF Doom has reconnected with his Viktor Vaughn alias by bringing him back as part of his song-a-week project, The Missing Notebook Series. The project that is part of Adult Swim has seen 5 songs so far with the release of last week of “Notebook 04” which featured Kool Keith as well as “Notebook 03,” and “Doomsayer.” Today, Doom as Vaughn released “Notebook 05.”
The new song’s running time is less than two minutes long but still has room to give fans what they love. “Notebook 05” is quick but it’s rhymes are filled with some quotable lyrics such as; “Get the cello out and mellow out / With a fellow who rock a swell show / Sore as hell as low no doubt / If you ever see him shout em out / It’s all about the clout, whoever wanna brawl call em out”
As his crime-life alias Vaughn, Doom released two albums in both 2003 and 2004 bookending his Madlib collaboration Madvillainy which included Vaudeville Villain.
New York rapper Westside Gunn revealed last week in an Instagram post that a joint project between the two is coming soon which will be produced by Alchemist and Griselda producer Daringer. So fans of MF Doom have even more to look forward to in the near future.
Hopefully fans of the rapper will get a full length solo album soon. Waiting every week for a new track is like waiting for a new episode of your favorite tv show to come on. It’s exhausting.
Listen to the new track, “Notebook 05” below and check back next week for a brand new notebook.
