American black metal group Wolves in the Throne Room released a new captivating track called “Mother Owl, Father Ocean” from their upcoming album Thrice Woven. The song is a little lengthy, but rightfully so as every guitar riff and drum beat fits perfectly and seems necessary in the flow of the new song. The new track pairs with the group’s previously released song called “Angrboda,” a tribue song to the victims of the Ghost Ship fire, which plays at the beginning of the Soundcloud stream below. Each song was produced with collaborator Anna Von Hausswolff, a talented and dreamy Swedish artist.
“Making music with Anna Von Hausswolff was a true gift,” said drummer Aaron Weaver. “When I close my eyes and listen to Anna’s Voice I see the cold grey oceans of the north. It reminds me of the saltwater near my beloved home, and the cold oceans everywhere. Hail to the Icy Waters of this Earth! Hail Anna!”
Thrice Woven will be Wolves in the Throne Room’s sixth LP, and is being released on Sept. 22 via their label Artemisia Records. Following the album release, WITTR will be packing their bags for an extensive three month long world tour. The tour will begin in Boise, ID on Sept. 29 and end on the other side of the world in Athens, Greece on Dec. 15.
