Arguably the world’s biggest rock band, Foo Fighters have been ramping activity up in anticipation of their forthcoming album, Concrete and Gold which will drop next Friday on September 15. After previously releasing few singles, Grohl and company are back with a new track to hold fans over.
Today, the group dropped a new single called “The Line,” and it’s a raucous new rock track. Striking guitars drive the track while Grohl delivers yet another impressive vocal outing in his howling yet melodic singing. “The tears in your eyes/someday will dry/we fight for our lives/because everything’s on the line/this time,” he wails. The track is undeniably a rocker, but definitely is tinged (if ever so slightly) in pop to give the whole thing a nice little shine for radio. According to Rolling Stone, “The Line,” represents “a search for hope in this day and age where you feel as if you’re fighting for your life with every passing moment, and everything is on the line.”
The new LP is Foo Fighters’ first release since their 2015’s Saint Cecilia. Concrete and Gold was recorded with pop producer Greg Kurstin, who has done projects with Adele, Sia, Pink and several more. Paul McCartney, Justin Timberlake, Inara George (the Bird and the Bee’s), Alison Mosshart (the Kills) and Shawn Stockman (Boyz II Men) are all slated to make guest appearances on the new project.
Foo Fighters have also released “Run” and “The Sky is Neighborhood” with accompanying videos, and have debuted new songs “Sunday Rain” and “Dirty Water” live. Stream the new audio below.
