The mystery has been solved. Justin Timberlake is the guest start to be featured on the Foo Fighters’ new album Concrete and Gold. With fans in the dark about the upcoming album, Foo fighters told us that there were going to be a “bunch of new guests” on this new album. They even went as far to say that their new album was probably the “biggest pop star in the world.” Originally, lead singer Dave Grohl said he wasn’t going to confirm the guest star until the albums release.
“We decided we were gonna make it our own dirty little secret and see if anyone can figure it out,” Grohl told Rolling Stone Magazine.
Rumors spread about who the mystery guest could be. Some thought Adele would be the big secret, others thought maybe Taylor Swift would make an appearance. After incorrect guesses, Grohl would simply confirm for fans that it wasn’t Swift or Adele who would appear on their 9th studio album.
This is actually how the idea came about to have a mystery- guest in the first place. Grohl told the Rolling Stone:
“He was really, really cool. Then the night before his last day, he says, ‘Can I sing on your record? I don’t want to push it, but – just to be able to tell [his] friends. He nailed it, I’m telling you—the guy’s going somewhere.”
Now it is confirmed. They were referring to Justin Timberlake’s backup vocals. Timberlake and Dave Grohl jokingly started discussing the collaboration while hanging out. After he gave him a chance, Grohl said that Timberlake nailed it. Another big plus for the Foo Fighters’ Concrete and Gold album is a guest appearance from Paul McCartney who will be featured on drums.
This year on Halloween weekend the Foo Fighters will be performing at the Voodoo Music and Arts Festival in City Park, New Orleans alongside Kendrick Lamar and LCD Soundsystem.
