Ian Svenonius Announces Debut Solo Album as Escape-ism, Introduction to Escape-ism for November 2017 Release

It is undeniable that the legendary Ian Svenonius had made his name as more of a band leader than a solo artist. From Nation of Ulysses, to the Make-Up, to Weird War, XYZ, Chain and the Gang, and more, Svenonius has been integrated incredibly deeply into the Washington D.C. scene.

But throughout his decades-long career, he has been yet to release a solo effort. That changes this fall with the arrival of a full-length from the punk veteran under the moniker Escape-ism.

Titled Introduction to Escape-ism, the record will be released November 10th via Merge. Featuring Svenonius playing “a drum box, a guitar, a cassette player,” in addition to his “single slobbering, sinful voice,” the album is said to be “profound, prophetic, perverse, and poetic.”

Svenonius has shared a taste of what’s to come with “Almost No One (Can Have My Love).” You can find the track in the player below, along with a commercial for Introduction to Escape-ism.
