As reported by Stereogum, art-punk mainstays Liars have released a video for the single “Cred Woes” off their latest release TFCF which came out earlier this month on Mute Records.
Directed by Yoonha Park, the video follows a young man in New York City trying to make ends meet as a delivery boy. Featuring odd angles, disorienting edits and bits of subliminal splicing of random objects into the frame, the video holds the viewers’ attention throughout its duration, particularly during the strange fruit smashing section that ends the video. The odd subject matter fits the lyrical vibe of the song well, as the lyrics deal with the mundane existence of working a minimum wage job.
Musically, the song continues to merge creaky synth sounds with harsh drum beats and bursts of gnarled guitar along with Angus Andrew’s slurred and off kilter delivery.
