Jacob Banks @ The Foundry 12/01

British singer-songwriter Jacob Banks made his way onto the mainstream stage without a record label. Jacob Banks’ music has been considered a cross between soul, R&B, with a twist of modern hip hop. Jacob has drawn comparisons to Musiq Soulchild, Marvin Gaye, and BJ The Chicago Kid. In 2012, Banks won the MOBO UnSung competition in Birmingham. It wasn’t until 2016 that Jacob Banks signed with Interscope Records.

In the winter of 2013, Banks released his debut EP, The Monologue. The second lead single from the EP “Worthy” was featured on BBC Radio 1 with Zane Lowe. Jacob Banks received serious airplay in the UK after the show with Zane Lowe. In April 2013, Jacob Banks performed at St. Pancras Old Church. Banks became the opening act for R&B singer Emeli Sande on her UK Tour. Towards the end of the year, Jacob Banks toured alongside Chase & Status on their Brand New Machine UK Tour. In 2015, Banks released his second EP, The Paradox.

Aside from music, Banks’ music has appeared in films and tv. Jacob Banks’ song, “Move With You” was featured in the 2015 video game FIFA 15. Banks’ 2017 song “Unholy War” was featured in both The Blacklist and Need for Speed: Payback. Back in March 2017, Jacob Banks released a narrative video for his new single, “Unholy War”. The lead single is off Jacob Banks’ upcoming EP.
