Archy Ivan Marshall sounds a lot less cool than King Krule (or his previous moniker, Zoo Kid). The 22 year old artist took the music world by storm back in 2013 with 6 Feet Beneath The Moon, and it seems like he’s back to do it again. After several fans recieved mysterious packages as well as a teaser, today he’s dropped a new music video as well as tour information.
“Czech One” is somber, surreal, and atmospheric. It plays like a beautiful marriage between noir soundtrack and lo-fi synthpop. NPR referred to it as absinthe-core, and I don’t think that can be topped. Lyrically, it deals with loneliness and lost love. “I can’t sleep at night, never slept at night. But she still sits in my dreams” Marshall sings while aboard an aircraft straight out of The Twilight Zone, travelling between the UK and the west coast.
Naturally, “Czech One” has sparked the rumor mill about a new King Krule album. Nothing has officially been announced, except that “Czech One” will be released on 7″ backed by another new song, “Dum Surfer,” on September 13. Though, it does seem at least a little suspicious that King Krule will be embarking on a major US/EU tour this October without a new album. Stay tuned for any new news, and check below for full tour dates.
