An already sensation hip-hop star, who opened his way to fame right after his “White Iverson” release, and with quite some experience in the NBA, will be coming to San Francisco to perform this October 3rd at the Warfield!
Born as Austin Richard Post but more commonly known as Post Malone, was born in 1995 in New York but raised in Dallas. Ever since a young age, Malone has had an interest in music; he started playing the video game Guitar Hero and later on learned how to play the guitar at the age of fourteen. At sixteen, Malone began recording his own mixtapes which his classmates really liked, so he decided to leave college and move to L.A. However, before going into the music industry and becoming an MC, he was first part of the NFL and later on went to NBA thanks to his father’s connections with the Cowboys. The NBA stage of his life had and still has a great impact on Post Malone’s music career; as not only his name but more than one of his singles are inspired by it. His stage-name “Malone” is said to be inspired by professional basketball player Karl Malone so as well his “White Iverson” track, and one of his most successful hits, which was inspired by professional basketball player Allen Iverson. This single has been awarded triple platinum by the RIAA and hit one million views only one month after its release. This song could be said it’s Malone’s breakthrough spin to fame as he signed with Republic Major who re-released the song and debuted at No. 84 on the Billboard Hot 100. Among his famous work, some other singles include “Go Flex” which was released in 2016 and became a worldwide sensation, “Too Young”, “Déjà Vu”, and Congratulations. Ever since Malone has been working with quite a few prominent rappers like 50 Cent, Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign, Migos, 2 Chainz and has even befriended famous pop-star Justin Bieber for whom he opened his “Purpose World Tour”.
The young star, songwriter, record producer, and MC, has really made quite to the top, and his hip-hop songs really do reflect that. Malone sees himself as a versatile person whose music style or direction shouldn’t be limited. This is why his style has been described as a “melting pot of the country, grunge, hip-hop, and R&B”, he really does put everything together and does it quite well.
