Jay Z payed tribute to late friend and collaborator Chester Bennington of Linkin Park at the V Festival in Staffordshire, England. He performed their hit song “Numb/Encore.” Jay Z told the crowd, “Can you guys light it up tonight for Chester?” He also said, “Linkin Park, one time, tonight. Please make some noise so he can hear you all the way in heaven tonight!” The song was another top 20 hit for both artist and the song won Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 2006 Grammy Awards. Chester Bennington took his own life a month ago today. His body was found by his housekeeper before 9:00 PM PST. The county coroner also stated that no suicide note was found at the scene of the death, and the singer was alone at the time he passed. He was 41.
Bennington’s death has had an extreme impact on the music community. Tributes came Pharell Williams, Rihanna, Coldplay, and more. Also Chester Bennington’s daughter sang “Hallelujah” with One Republic.
