Aldous Harding @ Bowery Ballroom 9/13

There’s no stopping Aldous Harding. With her gothic-folk sound, and her vocals that are intense and harrowing, this New Zealand artist has proven that she’s a force. Her music is raw and dark, emotional and serious. She has something to say in her songs (whether on purpose or not) and people are listening. Her self-titled debut came out just last year, followed by Party just this year, produced by John Parish (of PJ Harvey’s success), and released by 4AD.

Aldous Harding has played all over the world, sharing stages with artists like Deerhunter and Perfume Genius, and her success only continues to flourish. Publications rave about her depth and talent, and listeners find themselves totally enamored (including Lorde who was not at all shy in expressing fond interest in her music).

Her approach might be considered a touch avant-garde, but that’s why she’s so intriguing. When you listen to Aldous Harding, especially songs like “Party” and “Imagining My Man” you’ll realize her capabilities as an artist, and just how deep she can go. Are you ready to go, too?
