Chris Cornell’s Daughter Joins OneRepublic to Sing “Hallelujah” in Tribute to Her Father and Chester Bennington

It’s been three months since the world lost both Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell and Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington. The terrible news of their tragic deaths of suicide, Cornell on May 18th and Bennington on July 20th, is still a pain that music fans world wide have a difficulty escaping. The two friends were revered as rock stars who were blessed with voices and writing skills that made huge impacts not only in different genres of rock music, but also in the lives of the listeners who felt the emotion & pain that the two displayed throughout their music career. For this reason it was incredible to see Chris Cornell’s daughter Toni Cornell take stage and honor her father’s and his good friend’s legacy yesterday morning.

According to Rolling Stone, Chris Cornell’s pre-teen daughter Toni Cornell appeared onstage during this Friday’s Good Morning America along side One Republic. Cornell took the stage to sing folk singer Leonard Cohen’s most popular tune “Hallelujah” with One Republic’s lead vocalist Ryan Tedder. Fans of both Cornell and Bennington could be spotted in the audience weeping while both Cornell & Tedder paid a heartfelt tribute to late rock stars. Hearing lines such as “I did my best but it wasn’t much/I couldn’t feel so I tried to touch/I’ve told the truth “I didn’t come to fool you,” brought tears to many, as they reminisced on how the honesty from the two troubled music artists touched their own lives.
