If you’ve ever felt like your tropical vacations have been missing a little indie music, your prayers have been answered. An all-inclusive concert vacation package in Riviera Maya, Mexico has been announced this morning featuring Bon Iver and other artists. In addition to “a top notch concert experience”, attendees can look forward to “ a fully curated schedule” of “activities and workshops, poolside contests and games, specialty programs, and daily yoga, all while being surrounded by exceptional natural beauty.”
The “Days Have No Numbers” vacation will take place from January 21-25, 2018 at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya. In addition to three sets from Bon Iver, the four day event will see sets from Sylvan Esso, Polica, Francis and the Lights, Phil Cook, and experimental Japanese band Melt-Banana. There will be multiple stages, unlimited food and drink, day trips around the region, and even volunteering.
After the fantastic failure of similarly concepted Fyre Music Festival in the bahamas (ending with 8 lawsuits and an arrest on fraud charges), one might be skeptical about spending $1,549 – $3,499 on tickets that don’t include airfare. But, fear not, Cloud 9 Adventures has long history of running similar successful events. Albeit, usually for a much older demographic. It feels as though this is the non-fraudulent answer to the potential of the Fyre Music Festival. In an increasingly competitive and struggling music festival market, are luxurious destination-festivals the future?
